Official press Here's the official press release of Strobelight Records on the new project that I worked secretly on for the last couple of weeks alongside my dear friends Rickbats and Paul Cuska (btw: cheers and kudos to you both!): Well, you've most probably heard of it already, so here we go: we proudly announce the 2nd release of our ESSENTIALS SERIES! KALIFFORNIAN DEATHROCK brings to you a breathtaking selection of essential songs of the early years of Deathrock California; but not only music: a 24-pages booklet full of great pics, many from private collections, supercool flyers of the time, original statements of bands, DJ's, promoters etc. on the Deathrock scene then and now, and, last but not least, a 12-page in-depth DEATHROCK HISTORY written by the great THOMAS THYSSEN!

AboutDeath Ride '69 are a dark industrial psychadelic psycho rock band from Los Angeles. The band has gone through various incarnations always involving Linda LeSabre. The first band involved Linda with DC art school buddy Don Diego (RIP) and later after they moved to Los Angeles Wrex on guitar. After releasing Elvis Christ, Ethan Port joined the band for a year in 1989 with Buc Bono on bass to form a powerful trio. This era of the band had a more aggresive and harder edge, involving Buc's swirling psychadelic bass and Ethan's metal percussion and alternately tuned guitar sound. The band recorded an LP in 1989 - Penetrator - which was never released. The Red Sea EP was taken from this recording session and released to prepare for the bands US tour in 1989. Alternate Techno versions of some of the songs appear on the lastest Death Ride release "Screaming Down the Gravity Well" (1998). Linda LeSabre also preformed under her solo moniker "Beat Mistress". Death Ride in 1989 were one of the more notable live performances in the L.A. underground punk/goth/industrial scene. The band ignighted quickly then crashed and burned. Linda arose from the ashes to create a new version with occasional members from My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult (Linda has played percussion with TKK for many years now).
